הקהילה היהודית
העמקה בהיסטורית קהילת יהודי הודו זורקת אותנו אל העבר הרחוק! ישנם המייחסים את הקהילה או חלקים ממנה כ2000 שנה אחורה - או סביבות גלות בית ראשון.סברות אחרות מייחסות להתבססות הקהילה כאן מועדים יותר מאוחרים, מאות עד אלפי שנים. החוקרים טוענים, כי בעת העתיקה, זו היתה הקהילה היהודית הרחוקה ביותר על פני הגלובוס.
בתי הכנסת עתיקים מאוד, וטומנים בחובם ניחוח היסטורי נדיר. ישנם תשעה בתי כנסת עתיקים. המרכזים והמתוחזקים הם בית כנסת אליהו, מגן דוד, מגן חסידים, תפארת ישראל, עץ חיים, טאנה, פונה, בתי הכנסת באליבג, קוצ׳ין ועוד.
מומלץ להגיע לסיור בבתי הכנסת ולחיות מחדש בדרכים שהלכו דורי דורות של יהודים תמימים ששמרו את המסורת במרחק אלפי קילמוטרים מכל קהילה יהודית אחרת.
